Naming ceremony
A baby naming ceremony is a special occasion to celebrate your new arrival, and officially announce their chosen name. Family and friends come together to welcome the little one into the world with love, joy, and warmth. Naming ceremonies can also be for children a little older, or for teens or adults celebrating a new name.
As a celebrant, I understand the significance of this moment and we create together a meaningful and personalised ceremony for your family. From incorporating family traditions to imagining unique symbolic gestures, I will work with you to tailor the ceremony to your preferences.
Whether baby, child or adult, the announcement of a name is a wonderful strong blessing. In front of many or just for yourselves. It can include celebrating the miracle of life, naming guardians or special supporters, hearing the story of how the name was chosen, speaking your truth or wishes to your gathered community.
You may like to mark other transitions in your and your family’s life and I am happy to talk through and prepare with you anything that you wish to celebrate. Such as coming of age, menarche for girls, stepping into manhood for boys. Women may wish to mark and honour their pregnancy and birth, their menopause. Couples may wish to divorce with a definite ceremony to wish each other well on their way. This is an area where creativity and calling can lead us anywhere!
